Four gorings in a tragic bullrunning

10/07/2009. Eight runners were taken to the hospitals with diverse traumatisms

In addition to the dead runner, the running of the bulls suffered three other gorings and another eight runners were also taken away to hospital suffering from diverse traumatisms.

The emergency services of the Hospital de Navarra has been treating another five injured runners as well as the deceased runner this morning; V.S. a 49 year-old from Pamplona suffered cranial traumatism at the Mercaderes stretch. In Estafeta street, a 32 year-old man from Estella, I.R.A., suffered a wound to his outer right ear. Also from Mercaderes, J.A. O. a 31 year-old from Pamplona, suffered multiple contusions in Mercaderes. Likewise, a 61 year-old North-American, E.S.P. was admitted with severe thoracic traumatism having been injured also in the Mercaderes stretch of the course. Finally, A.F., a 17 year-old from Pamplona, was treated for a knee injury suffered in Santo Domingo.

Furthermore, six other runners were treated in the emergency services of the Virgen del Camino hospital this morning. Three of the runners had suffered gorings but none of them serious. Another three runners were treated for diverse traumatisms. A 24 year-old from Argentina, L.C., suffered a jab from the bull's horn to his left hemi thorax, at the Mercaderes stretch. At the Telefónica stretch, a 20 year-old from London. A.S.O. suffered a goring to his left thigh. A 27 year-old from Seville, C.G.C. was gored to his right thigh on the stretch leading down into the bullring. Another young man, R.R.C., aged 30, from Cuenca, suffered contusion to his right hand in Santo Domingo. Another runner, F.A.C. aged, 39, from Pamplona, suffered slight multi-contusions at the City Hall stretch. Finally, K.L., from The USA, aged 63, suffered grazing to his right elbow after falling in Estafeta street.
